Description of the photograph

Crab-eating seals, seen from above as they rest on broken ice on the Antarctic Peninsula in December 2018. The biomass of this species is nearly four times higher than those of all other pinnipeds gathered . In addition to being the most abundant seal species, it is also the fastest.
