Fabrice Calmettes

Putting into perspective is at the center of my research, the valuation of detail, at the center of my universe. I want to show what we do not always see, what we spend 100 times. I question the relation between the visible and the perceived. These everyday things, where our gaze "looks" without often seeing. My approach is related to the moment, with a simple tool, my iphone. I catch what I see, right now, right now. A detail that tells a story. I use photography as a matter of sensation. The reflection of the philosopher Marie-José Mondzain illustrates my work: "The image is not there for what it shows but for what it opens as an infinite field to the gaze." I pose the image in its relationship with the man-spectator. See what you do not always see. To see is to be and to think. Seeing is not watching. The question arises between the visible and the image. I show what is not seen in the moment. These everyday things, where our gaze looks without seeing. I wish to use photography as a matter of sensation. I value what can be seen while passing unnoticed. I give dimension to a detail. It gives life to a particle of a set that tells a story.
